Karuizawa Vintage 1992

Review by Nonjatta contributor - Dramtastic:

Karuizawa Vintage 1992. Cask number 6978. 62.8 percent alcohol.
Nose: Some florals, apricot, sherry, golden syrup, vanilla, oak and the ubiquitous varnish. It is balanced from the get go.
Palate: Sweet. You can drink this neat, though it still has loads of punch. In no particular order, it has: florals, oak, sherry, stone fruits, raisins, currants and smoke. Again, very well balanced. With water, the cherry blossoms shine through.
Finish: Long and luscious, with mint, creamy nuts and lovely, trailing smoke and tobacco flavours.
General comment: I have been enjoying this whisky for a long time now and it's taken me a while to review it here on Nonjatta. I have always called it the great all-rounder. There is something in it for everyone. A truly excellent Karuizawa that lives up to the hype.

Thought it might be appropriate to clarify my comment about silly money. Clearly for one, what constitutes silly is always in the 'eye' of purchaser. But mainly I was referring to the second hand market ie this is a very good whisky at auction for under Euro100 so you don't necessarily have to spend 8 times the price to get yourself an excellent Karuizawa IMO(unless you want to).
