Sun Shine Extra Special Whisky, aged 20 years
Distillery
Wakatsuru Shuzou, Toyama Prefecture
Review by Nonjatta contributor - Dramtastic:
"Sun Shine (Wakatsuru Shuzou) Aged 20 Years. 59 percent alcohol.
Nose: Pear, vanilla, brine, a little vinous(white wine), oranges, oak, smoke.
Palate: Explosion of malt, lemon sherbert, sweet oak, salt, hint of sherry, blackcurrent, smoke, mouth coating
Finish: Long, starts with malt and blackcurrent sweetness then ashy/smokey dryness. After about five minutes some yeast and fresh cut timber join in.Excellent blalance. Really like this one
Rating: 89/100." (Dramtastic's ratings explained.)
Nonjatta note: I have investigated this bottling a little and it does appear to be a single malt from a maker I have not tasted before: Wakatsuru Shuzou in Toyama Prefecture. If any other readers have information about this maker, it would be very much appreciated, particularly given Dramtastic`s very positive evaluation.
