SMWS Japan 20th Anniversary Party in Tokyo

Post by Stefan Van Eycken, Tokyo

We’ve been closely following the Japan chapter of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society in this, their 20th anniversary year. It’s been really good so far, but it’s about to get even better. The culmination of the celebrations will take place in two weeks time (Saturday 23 November) at the Park Hotel in Shiodome, Tokyo. Regardless of whether you’re a member or not, if you’re a whisky enthusiast, this is an event you can’t afford to miss.

There will be a wide range of Society whiskies available for tasting, as well as some Scottish craft beers, but there’s much more going on. Attendees will have the chance to taste the much-anticipated 4th anniversary bottling (72.33, an absolutely stunning 1981 Miltonduff). There will also be a prize draw with some serious prizes, including a full set of the 4 anniversary bottlings (members only) and a complimentary night in a double room at the Park Hotel. Society Global Brand Ambassador Georgie Bell is flying over for the event and Inter-FM DJ Guy Perryman will be taking care of your sonic needs. There will also be some announcements, including a big one that will send ripples through the whisky community (watch this space).

What do you need to know? Well, find your way to the lobby of the Park Hotel Tokyo (that’s on the 25F of the Shiodome Media Tower) by 2pm on Saturday, November 23rd. If you’re easily pleased, bring 4,000 yen (if you’re a member) or 5,000 yen (if you’re not) and you will get 20 vouchers. With drams priced at between 1 and 4 vouchers, that’ll get you plenty of the amber nectar already. If you know how good the Society whiskies are, bring a bit more dosh so you can get yourself some extra vouchers. The event is from 2pm to 4:30pm. For more information, check out this link. See you there.

Stefan,
Do we have to subscribe on the malt city website or can we just go there and pay when entering?
Thanks for your help.

I think you can just show up and pay then. Shouldn't be a problem.
