So Karuizawa stocks are expected to last for another two to two-and-a-half years (quoting Marcin Miller). That seeems like a very speedy depletion... I would have given them double that number of years.

Five years? That's because of speculation about numbers by people who don't have a clue what they're talking about and are, consequently, totally off the mark in their conclusions and predictions. Two years and a half sounds about right to me.
