Yamazaki Mizunara 2014
Post by Stefan Van Eycken, Tokyo
Our man in Kansai has just informed us of an exciting new release coming out of Yamazaki distillery. On April 22nd, a limited edition ‘Yamazaki Mizunara 2014’ will go on sale in Japan. It will be a domestic-only release, limited to 1,600 bottles, with a price tag of 25,000 yen. That’s steep for a NAS release, but this is mizunara, which usually sells like hot buns regardless of pricing.
Non-chillfiltered and bottled at 48%abv, this release marks the 30th anniversary of the introduction of Yamazaki as a single malt (which was back in March 1984). It will probably be a struggle to get your paws on a bottle. We’ll do our best to review it as soon as it is out, so watch this space…
